How to tell genuine iroha from counterfeits

iroha is used directly on the body, so buying the genuine product isn't just about value for money. It's about peace of mind. A copy may look similar, but nobody can vouch for what it's made of. This guide brings together the things you can actually check, based on TENGA's official guidance and information from the iroha website.

Why genuine matters

iroha uses silicone that iroha describes as body-safe and non-toxic, made under the quality control of TENGA, which is ISO 9001 certified. A copy has none of that: there's no way to know what it's made of, and it may not be waterproof the way it should be.

TENGA's official advice

TENGA publishes a counterfeit warning on its official website. In short:

1. Look for misspelled brand names, such as letters that look similar but aren't quite right, or a name that's slightly off.
2. Check the language on the box. Spelling mistakes or odd grammar are a warning sign.
3. Buy from a trusted retailer, and contact TENGA directly if you have any doubts.

Check against the iroha website

iroha's official website is iroha.com (it moved from iroha-tenga.com in September 2025). Its product pages list the model names, colours and specifications for each model. Compare what you receive with that information.

• Model names and colours should match what iroha actually makes. For example, iroha Zen comes in Matcha and Hanacha.
• Size and weight, for example iroha Stick is about 9.9 cm long and weighs 44 g, and iroha Zen is about 12.7 cm long and weighs 73 g.
• How it works, for example Stick has a strength dial, Zen and Rin have four modes on one button, and Mai Toki is controlled with buttons, with no app.

If anything doesn't match the official information, ask the seller about it.

About "Made in China"

Many people see Made in China on the box and assume it's fake. In fact, every iroha product is designed and developed in Japan by TENGA and manufactured in China, and the official manuals say so. What comes in a genuine box

iroha doesn't publish official authenticity markers such as holograms, serial numbers or QR codes. The most reliable checks are the ones above: the model details on iroha.com, the wording on the box, and where you bought it.

What you can also check is that genuine iroha comes with a user manual in the box, battery models include tester batteries, and rechargeable models include a USB cable but no plug.

Warning signs when choosing a shop

None of these prove a product is fake, but each is a good reason to ask more questions.

• A price far below everyone else's, especially for models that normally cost several thousand baht.
• The shop can't say where its stock comes from, or gives vague answers about importing.
• The product photos aren't real photos, or are all taken from other websites.
• Model names or colours that don't exist in the iroha range.
